OMiTACO started mid (or so) February 2002. Having not been Drawing comic strips in a while. Three unused characters from a completely different story, were dumbed down and drawn in very random, unclear comic strips. Getting away from his old comic strip, CowVision, and there characters. KDJ really wanted something that he can keep doing in his older years and it never get old. Not to say that cowvision was bad or anything, it was just getting a little stale.
Anyway, Omitaco's major audience was just KDJ and his friends, they would spend lunch periods with him drawing, and them laughing there asses off. Eventually it would get weirder and weirder and KDJ was willing to stop at around 20 or so strips.

But then he got really bored, and put them on the internet.

And the response of that made him feel pretty good about himself. Knowing that this strip is probably something he's really good at. He decidedto make more to show a wider audience, thanks to the amazing concept that is "THE INTERNET" Thus the reason why the Omitaco you see today is still around.

Omitaco's Future isn't out of the question either, Even KDJ's Rediculous Updating habits isn't going to stop omitaco in the long run. He also plans to make a book compilation of the first 100 strips, and some fun extras, He's also always wanted to do animated shorts too. Only time will tell though, so be patient.
